We’re here again to keep you updated on the new films you can catch at the cinema this month. Here is a run down of the main contenders (other movies are available!)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3

This is supposed to be the last of the Guardians movies (although given the MCU’s wider story arc it is unclear if that means an end to the characters) and we join them after Gamora’s death in Avengers: Infinity War. Peter Quill is still morning this loss when tragedy strikes again. An attempted kidnapping leaves a member of the Guardians fighting on life support and the rest of the team must go on a missions to save them and the galaxy.

Beau is Afraid

Staring Joaquin Pheonix as Beau, an anxious and paranoid man who misses a meet up with his mother. When he phones to apologise he is told that she has died. And so starts Beaus journey to get to his mother’s funeral. Beset with problems and catastrophes along the way, Beau is too late and misses the funeral. However, that is not the end of Beaus journey with more twists and turns to be unvailed.
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret

Based on Judy Blume’s young adult book of the same title, first published in 1970, this is a coming of age film whose story is still relevant today. With themes of religion and reproductive health, we follow Margaret as she moves from her home in New York City to New Jersey. Here she not only has to navigate a new school and making new friends, but also come to terms with puberty.
Fast X

This is the 10th movie in the Fast and the Furious franchise and the penultimate film with the final 11th movie currently earmarked for release in 2025. Fast X joins Dominic ‘Dom’ Toretto who must keep his crew safe from Cipher, a criminal mastermind and cyberterrorist. In this installment Cipher has teamed up with Dante Reyes who is seeking revenge against Dom’s crew for the death of his father (seen in Fast Five).
The Little Mermaid

The latest of Disney’s live action remakes of a much loved animated movie. The Little Mermaid sees Halle Bailey cast as Ariel, the youngest daughter of Titan King of the Sea. Ariel, part of the Disney Princess franchise, is adventurous and spirited. On one her here adventures, a trip to the surface, Ariel falls in love with Prince Eric. In a bid to follow her heart she enlists the help of Ursula. But should she trust the sea witch?
